Baby Development Classes. Why GymbaROO Baby ROO for Babies?

GymbaROO-KindyROO kids are excelling academically, emotionally, in leadership roles and on the sporting field. Classes from birth – 5 yrs

Are you a new parent and a little uncertain about how to care for your wiggly, warm, bundle of joy? Well, if you are like most of us you will be attending your local Maternal, Child and Family Health Centre (or equivalent) where helpful and caring staff will offer advice on feeding, sleeping, development, immunisations, and taking care of yourself through the challenging first few months of your newest family member.

At GymbaROO-KindyROO, we believe that is also helpful if parents learn as much as they can about their baby’s development – extensive research has demonstrated that knowledgeable parents care for their infants with greater competence and confidence1&2.

While there are some who argue that babies don’t need any specific developmental activities, at GymbaROO-KindyROO we beg to differ! Today’s modern society often isolates babies from the very movement and sensory opportunities they need for healthy neurological development. They are restrained (often on their backs for long periods) in capsules, chairs, swings, bouncinettes, cots, play pens, walkers and many other types of containers! These containers also deny infants many sensory experiences on which later learning is so dependent. Activities offered at GymbaROO-KindyROO are designed to help infants gain the important sensory and motor stimulation required for learning. Babies cannot do this by themselves, so it is important that parents know what experiences are important and how to provide an environment in which these experiences can occur.

What type of developmental activities does GymbaROO-KindyROO offer for babies?

GymbaROO-KindyROO aims to help parents feel confident in their knowledge about their baby’s development and provides them with developmentally appropriate and loving activities that can be easily accomplished at home. The program includes lots of information, activities and ideas about:

  • The importance of massage and gentle baby exercise – the what, how, when and why.
  • Why tummy time is so important for the awake baby – parents learn about different tummy positions, movements, and information about how this helps a baby’s development.
  • Getting your baby mobile – babies are designed to move – they wriggle and squirm from before birth. Moving not only aids digestion, circulation, breathing and many other bodily functions, it is also important for wiring the brain in readiness for later learning. The GymbaROO-KindyROO program is full of movement ideas that you can do at home.
  • Infant reflexes – babies learn to move initially not by being taught, rather as a result of unconscious primitive reflexes. GymbaROO-KindyROO teaches parents how to utilise these reflexes to get their baby moving without much effort at all!
  • Stimulating your baby’s sense of balance and position in space – GymbaROO-KindyROO assists parents in understanding how this is important for all later movement, posture, balance and coordination. Dancing mums and babies
  • The role that rhythm and music play in development of thinking skills, hearing and speech, as well as social and emotional development. Rhythm and music are an integral part of the GymbaROO-KindyROO program – babies are naturally very ‘tuned in’ to rhythm. Don’t know what to sing? Don’t worry we will introduce you to lots of fabulous new songs that your baby will love!
  • Your baby’s visual development. How well your babies learn to develop their visual skills, from the earliest months of life, is going to affect their entire development, including how well they will be able to learn now, and later at school. GymbaROO-KindyROO includes easy and fun ways to provide your baby with activities that will help their eyes and brain work together, helping them to develop these crucial visual skills.
